Minimum površinske hrapavosti: tanki sloj Ag deponovan na staklu

    Get PDF
In this paper the results of an examination of the surface roughness and morphology dependence of silver thin films up to 100 nm thick deposited on a microscope glass on the deposition rate and on the deposition time are presented. It was found that, for a constant deposition rate, the surface roughness exhibits minimum at a certain layer thickness. This coincides with the turning point when the influence of the substrate surface on the deposition process becomes negligible, i.e., to the change in the nature of the system substrate/deposit from Ag/glass to Ag/Ag. For a constant layer thickness, the surface roughness minimum, achieved at a certain deposition rate, coincides to the turning point when the average free path for vertical adatom mobility becomes zero

© 2016, Serbia Medical Society. All rights reserved. Introduction Relentless placoid chorioretinitis is an entity which belongs to the group of an atypical intermediate form of primary inflammatory choriocapillaropathies, resembling both acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy and serpiginous choroiditis, but the retinal distribution and clinical course are not the same. Because of this similarity this entity was termed AMPPiginous. This entity was first described by Jones et al. in 2000. The aim of our case report is to present a very specific case where the clinical course was progressive, with loss of vision in the affected eye. Case Outline A 31-year-old man, with no previous ophthalmic diseases, was hospitalized at the Clinic of Ophthalmology, Clinical Center Kragujevac, because of a reduction of vision in the right eye, and scotoma and metamorphopsia in the left eye. The clinical course of retinal lesions in the left eye resembled the changes observed in acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy, and the right eye changes were between acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy and serpiginous choroiditis. The diagnosis of relentless placoid chorioretinitis was confirmed after clinical, laboratory, immunological, virological, and angiography examinations. Conclusion The progressive clinical course of the disease, complemented by multimodal imaging and extensive laboratory diagnostics, has led us to the diagnosis of relentless placoid chorioretinitis. The combined anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory therapy led to the stabilization of visual acuity of the left eye as opposed to the right, where there has been no recovery

GPU-SUPPORTED SIMULATION FOR ABEP AND QOS ANALYSIS OF A COMBINED MACRO DIVERSITY SYSTEM IN A GAMMA-SHADOWED K-µ FADING CHANNEL

    Get PDF
In this paper we have analyzed macro-diversity (MD) system with one macro SC diversity (MD SC) receiver and two micro MRC (mD MRC) receivers over correlated Gamma-shadowed k-µ fading channel. The average bit error probability (ABEP) is calculated using the moment generating function (MGF) approach for BDPSK and BPSK modulations. Graphical representation of the results illustrates the effects of different parameters of the system on its performance as well as the improvements due to the benefits of a combined micro and macro diversity. The obtained analytical expressions are used for the GPU-enabled mobile network modeling, planning and simulation environment to determine the value of Quality of Service (QoS) parameter. Finally, linear optimization is proposed as an approach to improve the QoS parameter of the fading-affected system observed in this paper

Sexual Dimorphism in the Dimensions of Teeth in a Serbian Population

    Get PDF
The study of teeth is of great interest to anthropologists, biologists, orthodontists and forensic scientists. The existence of sexual dimorphism in permanent teeth is a known phenomenon. Aim of this study was to analyze the presence of sexual dimorphism in the mesiodistal and vestibulolingual diameter of permanent teeth in the sample of Serbian population. Measurements were taken on plaster casts of 201 individuals of both sexes, ages between 18-25 years, using a digital caliper with 0.01 mm precision. The mesiodistal and vestibulolingual diameter of each permanent tooth was determined. A Student’s t-test and a Mann-Whitney U test were used to statistically analyze the obtained results. There were no statistically significant differences in the teeth crown diameter between the right and left side of the same dental arch. Majority of the teeth examined were larger in male than in female patients. Statistically significant difference in the mesiodistal diameter of male and female maxillary and mandibular canines was found. The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences in teeth size between sexes in Serbian population. Males have larger diameters in teeth crowns than females. Canines show the greatest dimorphism

Mathematical Modeling of Heat Transfer of Liquefied Natural Gas Engines

The article presents a mathematical model for pressure growth in the line supplying the engine KAMAZ with cryogenic fuel under specific insulation conditions. By using the heat balance equation the model in a simple linear form is obtained. This makes the model suitable for use in solving practical tasks related to the design of a liquefied natural gas engine fuel system. According to the above-mentioned method, the geometric parameters of the section of the main elements are determined under different external conditions and the boundary parameters of the gas fuel (maximum and minimum values of pressure, temperature, and flow). These data are necessary to determine the consumption, hydraulic and project features of the project. Fuel pipes are optimized (for hydraulic resistance, pressure and flow impulses, structural strength) to improve the accuracy of fuel dosing. The adequacy of the model was tested on a special modified test stand

Background: Lower respiratory tract infections are frequent and often serious diseases in children. Wide number of microorganisms may cause lower respiratory tract infections, and sometimes it could be very difficult to determine the exact causative.Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the reliability of specimens obtained by bronchial lavage in determining the etiology of childhood pneumonia. Methods: This is prospective study conducted during four years period, in a group of 60 children aged from 6 months to 18 years. All patients included in this study underwent bronchoscopy when they fulfilled criteria of routine clinical protocol, in order to set correct diagnosis of lower respiratory tract disease. Results of bacteriological analysis of PLA samples were compared against the results of bacteriological analysis of BL samples of the same patient. Results: In majority of subjects - 41 (68.32%), the bacteria isolated from the bronchial lavage samples was not identified in pharyngolaryngeal aspirate and was considered as the cause of infection. Haemophilus influenzae was the most frequently isolated pathogen in bronchial lavage samples. Conclusion: Findings based on analysis of bronchial lavage samples may be used as reliable criterion for etiological diagnosis in cases of pneumonia when initial empirical treatment failed

Climate Related Business Continuity Model for Critical Infrastructures

    Get PDF
Climate change is more and more nowadays acknowledged to be associated with the natural hazards for which the society, and its Critical Infrastructures, need to anticipate and plan. The impact the climate-related hazards have to the functionality of different Critical Infrastructures (CI) is being discussed, focusing on the minimization of the disruption time of their critical services. This is achieved by means of a Business Continuity plan that is based on Business Impact Analysis and Risk Assessment of projected weather-related hazards. Business continuity planning is essential part of the resilience framework of the CIs, which EU-CIRCLE project proposes with regards to climate change. Guidelines are presented in order to provide a planned and controlled method for anticipating and responding to events that are likely to interrupt key business activities (Business Continuity Model) and suggestions upon adaptation of CIs to climate change are also given. For this purpose, information was collected from CI operators with regards to existing BC plans and adaptation measurements, by means of questionnaires, which is also presented herein.</p
